I agree with that as long as the most wealthy people /companies aren't allowed to circumvent it while "normal" people take the hit

That's exactly where I would like to see a government concentrating its efforts. Closing down tax evasion and aggressive tax avoidance and taxing oligarchs and mega corporations on their real wealth, "earned" or otherwise

You're putting words in my mouth. I said there was no political advantage to categorically ruling out rejoining. The only people that would be attracted to that rhetoric will never vote Labour in starmer's life time

To be fair, I'd be surprised if there were many who voted for them who are against tax increases per se
However, only taxing the rich more can save them now. If voters want oligarch shils or nasty fascists they'll go straight to the source rather than risk another punt on these impressionists

Exactly. When they were in opposition they did everything to put people off (but won anyway because of flawed FPTP and Tory Corruption Fatigue) but now they're in power they constantly make entirely unnecessary and ridiculous promises

It was just a really stupid thing to say for which she'll have to take the consequences. There's no need to say anything like this once in power and besides, it's just naive to think that in the current economic climate that growth would be realistic or that they could strip public services any more
