NYTIMES explains the incredible increase in the number of children who are given an autism. It also highlights our reliance on deficit thinking in our approaches to addressing children’ educational needs.

Going on the record here, I am absolutely, without question, vehemently opposed to the June 14 Trump Birthday Parade and accepting the $400 million Boeing 747 air palace from Qatar. As Americans, our leaders should not hold the trappings of royalty.
In plainer terms, I'm agin it. It ain't right.

Rachel ran after a student who was known for running away from school. When she caught up with him, she communicated compassion through her eyes and her demeanor. This is what it takes to make a difference with children and probably adults too.

Standardized testing--the first thing that has to go, if we really mean to educate kids. The current lack of interest and knowledge about how society and government work is attributable to foisting standardized testing on US children since the mid-80's. BTW, no President is off the hook on this one

In NC, we have a voucher program for students with disabilities to go to private schools that do not have to provide the services the students need. To get a voucher the student has to be eligible for sp ed, but s/he can use the voucher to attend a private school that doesn’t provide the services.
This is the ultimate goal of the charter and voucher system: private education at public expense that can exclude anyone inconvenient to the school. It has its roots in racial bigotry, but its modern form discriminates against kids with disabilities, too. #deafed #deafkids
This is what supporters of charter schools and vouchers don't tell you: because those schools aren't required to admit physically or learning disabled students, or ESL students, their "improved test scores" and whatnot are completely juiced—and it defunds the schools where disabled kids DO go.

In fact, in 2025, let's throw out the term "Early Intervention."

It is inherently ableist. It is medical-model bollocks.

Let's pivot and use the term "Early Support" instead.

Hear and feel the vibe difference in it? Where it leads you?
