Anyway, polkas are often ‘caller’ songs, where basically a live DJ would call out the dance moves. The Chicken Dance is for shy people who wouldn’t take to the dance floor normally. It was a fun song that every one could dance too, even if they didn’t have a partner.

It was a lonely July night, driving back from a funeral in Tarnapol, Saskatchewan, and the only station I could get was an AM station, with a Saturday night polka party. I had one of those fake cassettes that you’d use to play your iPod on, but figured the radio would keep me awake.
