[REDACTED] but he/him. Also lots of fountain pens, hiking, information security, and RPGs.
I realised just the other day that I have emails with the words "Black Friday" auto-trashed via a rule. I can't remember when I did it, but now-me is thanking past-me for my insight.

Without having access to the underlying data, I would hazard a guess that the changes for Facebook are within the margins of error. Also, they have changed the method of collecting data between the years. This doesn't necessarily invalidate the results, but it makes it a bit less trustworthy.

Ok, our new photographer at DHS is great, she even used to retouch old paintings in Spain.

I really really don't care if it works or not, anywhere. That has NEVER been my issue with this thread. My issue has ONLY been the misrepresentation of how things generally work in Europe.

I couldn't care less what they do in Kenya. The Venice Access fees are paid by /everyone/ not living or working in the city, *including* other Italians. So it is not aimed at only foreigners, which this was about.

Maybe? I honestly don't care either way. My beef is with the claim that there are "attraction specific tourism fees" in Europe, for instance, to get into the Tower of London you'll pay 50 quid if you're a bloody foreigner, and 25 quid if you're not. I have never encountered anything like that here.

"Resort fees" and "hotel taxes" of various kinds have been around for a long time, and are already VERY common all across the US. This is something completely different. You should look it up.

Tourist taxes are not the same as "differentiated fees for visiting a park", which this is. I don't have a problem with either solution, though. But claiming that "Europe does the same thing" is not correct.

A quick check:
Eiffel Tower: same for everyone
Vasa Museum: same for everyone
British Museum: -"-
Tivoli: -"-
Magritte Museum: -"-
Fernsehe Turm: -"-
Colosseum: -"-
I haven't been to India, so I can't comment on that.

As a European citizen, I'd LOVE to get some examples of this.
