There was an interview Claire Dederer did last year and she talked about how she basically refuses all media requests tied to MeToo/“Monsters” now bc she doesn’t want to be that “expert” and I thought this was really good. (No NPR offense intended, obviously!)

(And, as I know you of all people know, this is a problem across all nonprofits and also for-profit non-union outlets and in non-journalism jobs, etc etc. The biggest problem is the unaffordability of everything, sigh.)

Yes, I think some places are really putting the effort in to fund livable wages for people over 30, and I really hope the rest follow suit as they can, bc a sustainable journalism model needs to sustain journalists.

(Not a comment on AJP-related enterprises specifically or any one outlet, just a whole lot of new local nonprofit outlets. $60ish-k in cities like Austin or Nashville, for example, is not v livable if you don't have a spouse, roommates or rich parents.)
