When life breaks your heart, make art.

If you are able, do three kind things today: one for yourself, one for somebody else, and one for the world. We can't make everything better, and we can't yet put an end to this terrible administration and its campaign of unrelenting evil. But we can do small, good things: beauty, grace, connection.

Just some beauty for your eyes.

Art is a ray of light and hope in a broken world.
I have shared this story, this thread, before - but I think given the state of the world, it's worth telling once again. Maybe it can help, especially if like me, you make art, and you wonder what the use of all of it is right now.

Planting seeds gives me hope. Food for the body, flowers for the soul.
Grow something, you'll feel better.

Gardeners in the south, I am heading to Louisiana and would like suggestions for easy growing plants to start with my grandkids. Sunflowers? Poppies? Give me some ideas.

Today would also be a good day to cut the cord with corporate media if you haven't already. #resist

We really need to keep impressing on our contacts and communities how important growing gardens is right now. Taking charge of your food supply is so empowering. I figure I'll be growing more food than usual and giving away the surplus. Who's with me? Grow good food, feed people

Dear ice, you are really pretty but I think I've had enough of you. Feel free to move along.

Well I can think of one immigrant that should be deported asap.

Gardening nourishes body and soul and satisfies all the senses. Garden like your life depends on it, because it does. If you can't garden, support local folks and markets. Feed yourself and your people and build community. This is the most basic form of resistance. #gardening

I gotta say this platform may be the best place to be for some but the absolute lack of engagement is discouraging. Literally zero engagement for me since I joined.

Happy New Year!
Looking back at 2024 the highlight of the year was experiencing the Northern Lights. Nature in all her awesome glory ❤️

I have been thinking a lot about the concept of “enough” lately. I know what it is. Enough is what you need to live on comfortably with housing, food and basic needs/medical met until the end of your days.

Enough is something every American could have if we just taxed billionaires like we used to.
I've shared this quote before but I'll share it again, as it's one I've been thinking about a lot as I've watched how our oligarchs have been behaving over the past few months.

Good morning from our cold, wintry hill this morning. Thirteen below last night. Where in the world are you? #winter

Serious question. Why are we still cropping ears and docking tails on dogs in this country. It just breaks my heart to see a Facebook friend with her new puppy and his poor little head done up in bandages.

Gratitude is the best attitude today and everyday. My sweet Bella enjoying breakfast this morning, she is well suited for winter ❤️

Wild Embers
We are the descendants
of the wild women you forgot
We are the stories you thought
would never be taught.
They should have checked the ashes
of the women they burned alive.
Because it takes a single wild ember
to bring a whole wildfire to life.

As a photographer I've been lucky enough to experience some truly amazing moments and places but this night at Theodore Roosevelt NP a month ago rates right up there in the top ten. Nature is full of magic.

Hello hello just got here. Is this thing working? I'm a horse girl, gardener, photographer, explorer. Born in the Netherlands and landed in the Catskills, daily saying wtf and wondering at the world. People continue to disappoint me but I believe in community and uplifting others.
