The first non-Memphis and franchised location was opened in Clarksdale, Mississippi by Albert Pick, Jr., son of hotel magnate Albert Pick.

It opened in 1954 and only remained a Holiday Inn for a few years before Pick, Jr. started his own motel chain and rebranded it as an Albert Pick motel.

The Greenhouse
Like walking into eternal spring. Everything's growing, blooming...seductively fragrant. Overhead, gently flowing water shimmers across the glass roof, soothing and restful. Food served in this atmosphere just has to be good. It is.

I cannot identify who took them, but they were all taken around the mid-late '60s.

Burkhart took photos of their work and other billboard companies. The first post was another company, here is one theirs.

This is my favorite one. I roller skated in this place a few times when I was a kid.

It was in rough shape and everything smelled like cigarettes and skate oil, but I have several fond memories, including my first crush when I was 8 years old.

I wonder what became of Nancy.

The majority of my collection is from the 1930s-60s, including several from WWII.

This was shortly after my great-grandfather's dog bit me. I had nearly 40 stitches on my cheek and my forehead. You can see it more prominently here.
