Those who think unis "make money" on indirect, please see below and educate yourself. Nobody makes money on grants, especially in biomed. As a start, a standard lab costs $2m. 30yr mortgage interest on that is $120k/yr. Add all other costs, break even per lab might be $200-250k.

It is indeed my understanding that most research institutions won't survive if this is implemented. I know I will contact my congress and senate members.
