Since I'm moving over here, it's about time I put the painting up on the office wall.
DOGE finally got shot down and I can't even feel any joy from it because of how many quite literally hundreds of thousands of people they will have indirectly killed

Leaks of the 28 point peace plan are circulating right now and I cannot even begin to articulate how bad it is for everyone except Russia. It literally states that NATO will not expand ANYMORE
NEW: Trump's full 28-point Ukraine-Russia peace plan would force Kyiv to give up additional territory in the east, cap the size of its military, and agree it will never join NATO
Exclusive: Trump's full 28-point Ukraine-Russia peace plan
The full plan was obtained by Axios and verified by Ukrainian and U.S. officials.

Not to doom but it's becoming increasingly likely that Ukraine is going to lose/come out of the war severely disadvantaged, and if that happens I think we should expect the 2030s to be an extraordinarily violent decade internationally

So for those unfamiliar this would be enacting state secrets privilege which is a long-standing legal precedent that basically any materials flagged as something which could potentially jeopardize national security and secrecy concerns can be buttoned up and not used as evidence at all
Speaker Johnson says he has "national security concerns" about releasing the Epstein Files.

"Declassification should always rest and always has rested with the agency that originated the intelligence. Why? So that they can protect their critical sources and methods."

The proliferation of this style of rhetorical language is heavily because of twitter brain which is why I gave up on saying twitter isn't real life
Bret Stephens, making the case for the United States invading Venezuela: "Why hasn’t Greta Thunberg set sail to Caracas with symbolic deliveries of food?"

...No one has ever made Bret Stephens look worse than Bret Stephens. The competition is only ever for second place.

During COVID I heard about the Red Scare podcast and decided to give it a listen. In the ep. they spent ~45 mins talking about how poppy and fascist Taylor Swift's new album sounded (this was a good thing), while sounding like they were high on valium.

I thought it was a shitty bit and shut it off

Trump just approved the sale of the F-35 to Saudi Arabia despite security concerns
NEW: A Pentagon intelligence report raises concerns that China could acquire F-35 jet technology if the US sells the planes to Saudi Arabia. Trump and MBS could finalize the deal next week in DC. China and Saudi Arabia cooperate on missiles. Our story: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/u...

Per the State Department they will be designating the Cartel de los Soles as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, saying the Maduro-led group has corrupted institutions, engaged in terrorist activity, and trafficked drugs into the U.S. and Europe.

Basically the rulebook is much more lenient now

Hot take but I think Putin's security apparatus is too strong and the Russian populace too kowtowed for there to be much of any fallout if he were to pull out. The only way I can see it becoming an issue is if the oligarchs are affected
Putins regime is so weirdly good at macro management that they’d figure it out pretty quick but I’d have to imagine that it would make people realize how quickly things have fallen. More political backlash than economic disaster.
