'Tuber, Tweeter, Two-Phone Talker. Lover of folding screens, expensive smart watches, and other tech gadgets that make "staying mobile" more interesting. @theMrMobile on Youtube.
Finally got around to snapping some shots of Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. The stainless steel is beautiful and goes a long way toward hiding the odd circle-on-a-squircle design, and the return of the physical bezel is also welcome. More early thoughts on IG at @theMrMobile with YouTube video coming soon!

Adding to a fairly long list of “FINALLY”s today: Samsung’s most portable smartphone now supports DeX! Haven’t gotten the Flip7 fully running on the NexDock review unit yet, but at least wireless functionality seems to be present. DeXheads, rejoice!

(^ That one costs 💰 $1099, BTW)

If that's too rich for your blood, Samsung's finally bringing foldables downrange with the $899 Flip 7 FE.

Basically a Flip 6 repowered with Exynos and a few minor tweaks, for $899. (Motorola still has 'em beat on price with the $699 Razr, but progress is progress)

On the other side of the foldable divide: the Galaxy Flip7 gets Samsung closer to competitive with Razr:

🔋 4300 mAh battery
📏 Thinner & lighter (13.7mm, 188g)
🌈 Fun colors are back (again!)
📺 6.9" inner w/waterdrop crease
🖥️ 4.1" cover (run any app you want, but still takes an extra few steps)

I've been waiting for Samsung to get back to competitive foldables for years ... and the Galaxy Fold 7 might finally get us there.

𐄷Thinner/lighter (215g, 8.9mm)
🌈Fun colors are back!
📺Wider screens inside & out
💧Waterdrop crease
📸200MP camera
🤘Rebuilt hinge w/titanium lattice
💰$1999

I'd rather have an ugly phone than a boring one.

Pretty sure it's gonna be Not Great, given Unihertz's prior efforts and my very early first impressions. But it's so cheap it might be worth a spin just to try out. No time for a video, at least not for a while.

(Disclosure, I'm co-founder of a mobile keyboard company, etc etc)

I'm too heavy for the Light Phone – but I had an amazing 2 weeks figuring that out.

This phone definitely isn't built to be an optical powerhouse, but in this (very retro-coded) setting, I love the "vintage" vibes it gives.

More on my Light Phone III experience in a sec.

Qualcomm celebrated its 40th birthday in NYC last night, and I was on hand to capture a few moments through the (Snapdragon-powered) Light Phone III.

I took Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge to Google I/O to see if the reality is as confusing as the concept.

The result was a surprisingly positive experience – but I'd still consider the Edge a lightweight.

(Yes I know this is ridiculous but) this is actually handy in-flight, because a laptop usually doesn’t fit well at all here. Decoupling the keyboard from the phone/display has its uses.

Keyboard is a sample K2H-F1 unit provided by @keychron.

Motorola already had the best flip foldable – and the Razr Ultra cements its lead in features, specs & style.

But it's not flawless. There's only 1 good camera; it's buggier than Razr '24; and the AI is meh (shocker, I know).

Then again: WOOD!

Samsung's 5.8mm Galaxy S25 Edge pushes no real boundaries and, at $1099, seems poised to steal sales from the more interesting Galaxy Flip.

Given Motorola's release of a 5.2mm phone 9 years ago, it's tough to get excited about life on this particular "edge."

The Minimal Phone isn't a dumb phone – it's a "diet phone." And if it shakes off its many bugs, it could be the best option for many folks looking to scale back their screen time.

Going "minimal" (ish) with the Minimal MP01 this weekend.

Curious beast for sure. E-paper display meets a full QWERTY keyboard and Android 14. The idea is: all the apps you need, but enough friction to prevent mindless scrolling.

Review sample provided by Minimal. Video soon!

They did it two generations ago (and I reported on it!) but no one noticed. lol
April 24, 2025 at 6:12 PM
This being 2025, there's also the requisite ✨AI✨ - complete with dedicated button (on the Ultra).

Most of it is 🙄 – BUT I'm intrigued by "Look & Talk." Glance at the Razr sitting on a desk (in tabletop or tent mode) and it will wake up and listen for a command or query.
April 24, 2025 at 4:43 PM
The top-shelf Razr Ultra is pricey at ~$1300, but it's also a true no-compromise flagship flip:

🔥 Snapdragon 8 Elite
🧠 16GB/512, 16GB/1TB
📸 3x 50MP (w/Ultrawide!)
🔋 4700 mAh, 68W 🔌, 30W 🛜
💦 IP48
📺 7" 4500nit / 4" 3000nit
📖 Titanium-reinforced hinge

Plus ... did I mention the wood? 😄
