Managed to get these - not ideal as obviously I couldn’t get very close. The area is basically an open gently sloping field with a few trees - all of which surrounded by road, so I’m overall decently happy with these ig

Got lucky enough to be able to hear my favourite piece live (shosty’s piano quintet), got cursed with the worst audience I’ve ever experienced - there were moments in the fugue where you couldn’t go five seconds without a cough or smth dropping to the floor

this is the second time the past few days I’ve seen cattle egrets in this area - this is quite intriguing to me since I never get the chance to enter their usual ranges, so if they consistently show up here I may pop over with the camera when I have a chance instead of my puny phone camera

i found these two videos which amazingly explain how and when to and use the flute's low and mid register - worth a watch for anyone who doesn't want to be stabbed by the flautist performing your work (we're just not chill like that)

Shostakovich’s flute and piccolo parts are genuinely some of the most idiomatic, well written, and frankly fun to play out of all the composers part of the standard repertoire - just another reason to love him so much!
