The other Charles Johnson was very active in 2023 being a source for articles about Peter Thiel claiming grandiosely he was helping the FBI. A shocking number of media outlets treated him as an important, trustable voice. (Chuck had been in my DMs the year before swearing Peter worked for the CIA).

This line is so insightful - "what if.. the true hero was whoever was editing her pieces.."

Ask: why is all this wildly irregular diplomacy suddenly happening now, "aggressively", "24/7"? Kushner has no official role in US foreign policy at all. He swore he would play no role; he has massive conflicts of interest. Driscoll is way out of his lane. Someone is desperate for a ceasefire. 7/
November 25, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Unlike the earlier Axios reporting on Kushner/Witkoff, FT uses direct quotes that show how irregular this is. Driscoll's outreach is new, separate from the State Dept, and "aggressive". The takeaway: Putin, out of cash to pay his soldiers, is desperate for a ceasefire and calling all his helpers. 6/
November 25, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Vance's folks have gone fully rogue: Driscoll is meeting with Russians in Abu Dhabi. As before, they leaked the news themselves (this time to the more appropriate FT), trying to portray Driscoll as an important new conduit to Russia. FT had to ask if Ukrainians were involved at all. 5/
November 25, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Axios printed stories Nov 18-20, then on the 20th the surrender ultimatum was carried to Ukraine, improbably, by SecArmy Dan Driscoll, a 39-year-old former 1st Lieutenant whose only qualification for the office was that he was friends at Yale with Vance. Now the Vance faction are trying again. 4/
November 25, 2025 at 6:34 PM
...and the leak went a Kushner-linked Israeli reporter: Barak Ravid, who wrote a whole book ("Trump's Peace") on Kushner's official project, the Abraham Accord, then in 2025 covered Kushner's unofficial work with Witkoff on Gaza negotiations. Only Kushner would leak to a Middle East specialist. 3/
November 25, 2025 at 6:34 PM
The Trump faction - Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner & business pal Steve Witkoff - met secretly with a Russian rep in Oct., then in Nov. leaked to Axios presenting Russia's wishlist as an official plan. It's Kushner who leaked: Axios swears it was an American; Witkoff thinks it was "K", and.. 2/
November 25, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Ukraine relations get even more chaotic. Two factions - Kushner/Witkoff and Vance/Driscoll - are both freelancing to set US policy: cutting out the State Dept, pushing Ukraine to surrender, then leaking to press to claim they are official. Why? Putin is desperate and has called in his assets. A 🧵 1/

OK, this is a self-serving leak by the JD Vance camp. The United States is becoming Afghanistan. Three different groups are conducting rival foreign policies. Madness.
November 25, 2025 at 8:29 AM
It's probably not the Kremlin - more likely Kushner. David Lawler of Axios swears Dmitriev was not the source, that it came from an American. And the outreach must have been to Barak Ravid, who wrote a solo-byline article. Ravid would know Kushner well - he wrote a whole book on the Abraham Accords.

There were a bunch of revelations in 2023 but wrapped in a series of articles that Thiel had influence over; he was trying to control a narrative. Haven't seen anything since. He has admitted to being approached and claims he reported it promptly. The influence seems older and deeper, though.

In Axios' scoop on the leaked document, they called it a "28-point U.S. plan", citing unnamed officials from Russia and the US. Someone then tried to push it through before Thanksgiving. But now the US Sec. of State, backpedaling, denies it's his and denies there is even a deadline. Who is lying? 4/
November 23, 2025 at 12:23 AM
The day after Axios' story, Witkoff himself posted (accidentally) that he thought it was leaked by Dmitriev of Russia. Axios denied Dmitriev was their source. But if he was, he was very effective: the Axios news hit big and US officials scrambled to respond. 2/
November 23, 2025 at 12:23 AM
Chaos and lies in US diplomacy & media: Marco Rubio now denies the US had any input into the savage 28-point ultimatum to Ukraine - says it's from Russia. But Axios reporters Barak Ravid and David Lawler, who got the leak, claimed it was written by the US, by Steve Witkoff and... Marco Rubio! 1/

Rep. Luna has been pushing Russian talking points since she first arrived in Congress. As a newbie she tried to censure Rep. Adam Schiff for investigating Trump's ties to Russia during the 2016 campaign. Her first big action as a lawmaker was to be a Russia shill: this is June 14, 2023.

she's wearing black or navy flats in this video.

MTG posted a video just right after this meeting: "we had a great planning session for our January 6 objections".

Yes, the biggest question is how she got an invite, as a new Rep not yet sworn in. She'd been in an influence op tied to Project Veritas. No reporter ever probed that connection.
November 22, 2025 at 9:06 PM
MTG, smarter than most GOP Congressmen, commits to her strategy: be the first rat off the sinking ship. She predicts the GOP will lose the midterms and Trump will be impeached - and while she's often acting, that seems like a true belief. No one should embrace her but we should respect her savvy.

typo, Milius, no "e". Hadn't realized she had a longtime connection to the Red Scare women. She's still defending Dasha Nekrasova and seems quite invested. Fun fact: less-successful children or siblings of famous people (like Milius' director dad) are especially susceptible to foreign recruitment.

If anyone has the stamina, Byrne's nutso thesis is in this Google folder. Why was it approved? He was a protege of Warren Buffett, who he'd met at 13; that can't have hurt. It's hard to know when the crazy began for him. But his crazy hurt people, and hurt the US. 3/

Besides lying about Hunter Biden, Byrne spread election-fraud lies before Jan 6. He was in the White House with Michael Flynn the night Jan 6 was greenlit (probably as a LESS crazy plan than Flynn's pitch). So it's fair game to point out that his thesis is as much a disaster as his legal team. 2/

h/t @thisweekinwoo.bsky.social for the reporting. For reporters wanting video, all speeches at the major Stop the Steal rallies are documented here, with links to publicly available archived video. Mark Burns spoke twice. For Paula White, see the Jan 6 Ellipse tab. 3/

On Jan 6, recovering from his fiery speech the night before, Pastor Mark Burns spent the day watching the Capitol attack from Roger Stone's suite, along with Stone's publicist Kristin Davis, the former Manhattan Madam. These are the only people Trump can find to defend him now. He is losing. 2/

Yes, absolutely, Schumer should be asked, and he should be able to answer. Remember he's been around a long time, and has been in some pretty dodgy circles. He never explained how he ended up being at a Roy Cohn party in 1979.
