Wandering the American Southwest on foot.
For #WaterWednesday here's the Escalante River and Stevens Arch, with my hiking partner helpfully providing a sense of scale.

For #RockinTuesday here's some tilted, faulted, eroded, and generally messed-up* sandstone along the edge of the East Kaibab Monocline near Kanab, UT.
*"Generally messed-up" is a perfectly good geological term.😉

This little Pinyon pine cone seems apropos for #BlueSkyMonday and the beginning of meteorological winter. I hope December brings you all kinds of good things!

The Chinle Formation is unmistakable. In other areas - near Capitol Reef, for example - it contains quantities of petrified wood. I've seen entire petrified logs in that region. I hope you have a peaceful Sunday!

Yes, it's two days after Thanksgiving, but let me present what IMO should be named "Turkey Rock." I hope you all have a good weekend!

For #RockinTuesday
It's not my fault, Part 637. Yesterday as I was scrambling to the top of a mesa, I had to pause to get a shot of this series of little faults. I hope you all have a good day!

It's #BlueSkyMonday and the beginning of Thanksgiving week. I'm deeply thankful to live in a place surrounded by public lands. This belongs to you and me.🩷

When presented with the opportunity to wade through cold, muddy water of indeterminate depth, I declined.😆

My favorite bird for #BWFri

Maybe I've mentioned this, but my fondest wish is to be reincarnated as a raven. I hope Friday treats you all well!

For #WaterWednesday a full waterpocket before all the rain and snow in northern Arizona this week. I'll have to go back up there soon - there'll be hundreds of pools.

For #BWFri ...this is actually a fairly small sandstone spire, but with a little cropping it looks like it belongs somewhere in Patagonia. I hope you all survived the week in good spirits!

For #RockinTuesday may I present some Moqui marbles - or in this case, Moqui ping pong balls. They're iron concretions that form in sandstone and the Navaho Sandstone is famous for them. I hope you all have a good Tuesday!

It's #BlueSkyMonday - a good day for House Democrats to check if they found their Senate colleagues' missing spines. In any case, I hope the week treat you well. Here's the waning gibbous moon peeking through golden cottonwood leaves.

Walking up through The Cockscomb just west of the Paria River in southern Utah. These rocks were steeply tilted by the formation of the East Kaibab Monocline, so you're walking back through time as you hike upwards.
