And this is after we applied "brushstrokes" feeling from tree's shader. We also reduced pastel tones and added color variations along with a bit of noise. this is the final result (so far)! What says you?

We were trying to achieve better results from the texture side first, and then we planned to do more improvements with the actual shader work.

The only thing we had to do is add bit texturing to them and it looks miles better now! Don't you agree?

The idea is that it is a blockade - your units have to find different path. So our 3d artist design some sharp stones. This gave additional depth to the ground.

Our original design was functional, but not clear enough. While the color represented different land type, it was not clear if you could move your units there or even slide them on this land type.
