Member of Yazor Brook Restoration Project - working to improve blue green corridor through Hereford. And interested in food and farming. Member of Borderlines Film Festival Board.
Spike in phosphate level to 0.97 at our FOUW site 029 on Eign/Yazor brook. Brook has taken a beating - 2.5 weeks of no water flow. We are in Hereford city & usually notimmediately affected by agricultural run off from rain which pushes up levels. @savethewye.bsky.social @herefordshirewt.bsky.social

At our Yazor brook testing site -Naturally formed croy just upstream from site forced brook flow into narrow channel, speeding it up, scouring & having an effect down to our site where we now have a faster, rippling flow-less silt & sludge on substrate & aquatic plants. @friendsriverwye.bsky.social

Today we we were excited to find this stonefly larva while doing a riverfly survey in the Yazor Brook in the middle of Hereford. First time we have seen one in 6 years of surveys. They thrive in clean, fast-flowing, upland streams and rivers, and are sensitive to pollution. Is our brook improving?

#hereford today- Are Herefordshire Council planing to build on this site? Floods multiple times a year. Last time Oct 10. We are campaigning to create a wetland park here for people & wildlife and hope to persuade the council to adapt sponge city approach to mitigate against recurring flooding

Nest spotted half metre above ground in small hawthorn sapling in middle of fenced tree thicket planted Apr 2020-part of Hereford Yazor Brook Restoration Project. A white throat or a small warbler nest? ⁦Great to see wildlife moving into this area next to brook in middle of Hereford.
