Yes I bruised my tailbone tobogganing once when I was in middle school. Had to sit on a pillow for a several days and got teased mercilessly by the other kids. Fortunately I don’t have major back issues at age 69.

Yes. When my late son (who was disabled) had a respite worker, I asked him to take my son tobagganing. He reluctantly agreed telling me “ypu Canadians are crazy!”. Later he told me he loved it & he emailed photos to his mom in Nigeria because she’d never believe it.

Here in Toronto, the majority of cars I see on the road are Toyotas & Hondas, then Nissans & Kia, then Subaru, BMW & Audi. I rarely see cars from US brands. I own a Toyota Camry hybrid myself.

For me, it's like a punch in the gut (my late son had a severe intellectual disability and was nonverbal.) He had far more humanity that someone who descends to use that word. I completely avoid , discount and block anyone who think it's acceptable.

Cue all the USians posting "it's not America, it's Trump"
November 25, 2025 at 5:56 AM
It's a permanent shift. We made the mistake of not diversifying our trade & strategic alliances. Our overreliance on the US gave leverage which Trump exploited. Also you have a long road to electoral & govt reform (all checks and balances failed) to ensure another Trump doesn't come to power again.

I prefer to be accurate and to quote people accurately. There's lots of misinformation on social media, I don't believe it spreading it further.

Origin of this false quote:
November 23, 2025 at 11:05 PM
He didn’t say that second quote, it was said by an USian on BlueSky and had been falsely attributed to PM Carney. His language about Trump is more diplomatic.
November 23, 2025 at 11:02 PM
He also said that the EU (and added UK after) was our best trading partner as we share the same values. Past PMs would have said that about the US. Do you have that clip?

So appropriate for the CRAP party. (For those who don’t remember the Conservative Party briefly had the unfortunate name of Canadian Reform Alliance Party aka CRAP.

It's a breakup with a toxic abusive ex. First they try to lure you back with what they think is sweet talk "cherished 51st state", then it's threats, followed by gaslighting minimizing your concerns & pleading, followed by more threats when it doesn't work. Rinse, repeat ad nauseum. We're sick of it

The US view of the world predominates social media & media so despite my now cautious engagement with many USians, I still well aware of what goes on there. As someone who had a US mother who chose Canada, I will never regard Democrats with the level of trust I once did prior to this past year.

Our boycott & the Canadian reaction, I’ve also run into a large number on the left who are incapable of getting out of their exceptionalist bubble. For this reason, I chose to mostly talk to other Canadians & nationals of other countries & treat USians with caution & avoid following them (continued)
November 22, 2025 at 6:53 PM
I blocked a lot of left wing USians early in our boycott for this reason alone with their stupidity maps incorporating different blue states in Canada. If I tried to politely explain why this was offensive to Canadians, they got hostile. Although I’ve met USians who try to understand (continued)

It is extortion, that how this gangster regime ‘negotiates’ in contrast to the Swedish Deputy PM who said in this interview “we do not threaten our way into a deal”. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFt_...
