Just finished setting up the advent calendar for this year. Big thanks to the wonderful folks at Finngoods (finngoods.ca) and NoelByAlmaHome (on Etsy) for my super cute and delicious setup.
A string of multicoloured felted stockings about 4 inches tall, numbered 1-25, set against a cream-coloured wall. All but number 25 have Finnish candies poking out. Between stockings 12 and 13 hangs a red triceratops in a Santa hat. Below all of it sits a smiling stuffed Jellycat brand poinsettia.

The butterflies at Carleton were great! Mika even got one to nom on his pineapple. Look at that gorgeous giant! And these two Great Mormons are engaging in very un-Mormonlike behaviour. 😉

Saw this headline on CTV News and I’m almost impressed with Mark Carney’s speedrunning of the impending destruction of the federal Liberal Party. Sad that folks elected someone they thought was a brilliant economist and politician, only to find out immediately that he is neither.

Any #ottawa folks know of a missing tuxedo cat around the Golden Triangle area? Found this skittish sweetie without a collar by the Canal (near Waverley) and I wasn’t sure what to do other than look for an owner online.

One thing about Finland is that I’m able to buy incredibly delicious protein anywhere I go. Last night, I had protein ice cream. This morning, I had protein coffee “frappé.” The trade off is that it comes under bizarre names like this.

It was 7:30 this morning and already 27C. I made the mistake of checking out what Helsinki was like at the same time (2:30pm local time) and hoooo boy I am kinda jealous but those Midsummer celebrations are going to suck.

I know it’s not as impressive as the Tesla stock dip, but the $TRUMP coin lost 10% of its value and I don’t want us to forget those losers in all of this.

I was able to fix a handful of snags in my awesome pink pants with very little effort and it’s really amped me up. I gained a useful skill and now I wish to teach others as though I am Prometheus gifting fire to humanity.

There have been a bunch of times where I’ve been impressed with Apple News Puzzles, but this happened recently and I was over the moon. NYTimes would NEVER.

Saw a cute little chickadee on our morning walk along QED. They did not want to sit still for a photo and honestly…fair.
A chickadee of some sort (Boreal? Black-capped? Carolina? Could be one of those, I am not an ornithologist) with a black head and grey feathers streaked with white perched in bare branches of a tree.

I finished this puzzle tonight. It was difficult and I do not care for it (the image doesn’t even make sense!) but at least it’s over and I can move on to something pretty.
A 1000 piece puzzle of space. There are American astronauts on the moon, some on rovers and one standing on the surface. There’s a lunar lander completely out of proportion of the astronauts. Behind them, there are multiple ENORMOUS planets and man-made satellites. There’s also a lunar shuttle coming in for landing? There are asteroids scattered throughout. On the top right corner of the image is a sun with another satellite pointing at it? Earth is there in the middle. I just realized that there are elliptical orbits shown around the sun, so we’re seeing the planets orbiting the sun but it’s all crowded and out of proportion so that was not at all clear. If you cannot see this image, I promise you are missing nothing.
