I like to take photographs. Be safe, be kind.
I was just out doing the same thing!

Quick update: Joey has been exceedingly delighted. We have had so much snow (it finally stopped this afternoon) we had to get the snowshoes out yesterday. Here’s a collage from the last two days.

J and Joey just went out for their night walk and Joey was in fact delighted. Apparently he ran the entire way and J is now trying to recover. 😂

Here are a few from our lunch walk.

It’s looking pretty bare in spots now, and with the cloudy sky today the woods look very November-ish. I’ll take a photo to show you after our lunch walk, but have to update you on the 👽 flower: fully open front and side views and one of the little bud still hanging on with petals peeking out now. 😲

@aferguson.bsky.social Shocking discovery today: I was checking out the paph orchid flower as it’s opened up now, and it looks like there is a second flower on the same stalk — that’s never happened before! I’m not sure if it will mature or wither and fall off, but what a surprise to see.

Haha, that’s so funny and also WONDERFUL. 🤗

The paph flower is opening now — here’s how it’s looking this afternoon:

Oops, getting back to this late! No, we didn’t get out as it was a bit too chilly with the winds. Maybe this w/e as it’s going to be warmer, but we’re getting some rain so we’ll see how it goes. This was how it looked on our lunch walk though — definitely beautiful!

It’s been a nice fall here despite the lack of rain. Just smells so nice in the woods. How is it looking there by your place?

I got a nice photo of Joey in the window seat this weekend with his collar off (after a thorough tick check, boo). Plus the ’alien’ flower is blooming again. 👽

That doesn’t sound too bad, especially if you were able to do it all outside!

It was so beautiful yesterday, so we went out then. (I cooked the turkey dinner yesterday, so leftovers today.) I think tomorrow is going to be warm again, so that might be the last of the season. Here are some photos:

It is so nice! Speaking of Joe-Joe … we had a late morning paddle today and I brought my phone cam.

I found this photo of us starting the trek.

I do regret not going out now. Here’s something to maybe make you think less of my laziness 😄: we’ve been paddle boarding every morning since the beginning of August. It’s been so much fun. Joey has only fallen in 2 times, and I’ve been able to haul him back on board myself without tipping!

Luna moth on the house this morning. We saw one two nights ago late at night, so feeling particularly lucky to have seen two of them this year.
June 23, 2025 at 2:50 PM
Still not too much happening yet — some of the trees have flowered and the moss and grasses are greening up. But today at lunch I spotted this on one of the bushes: 🤗

Ah yes, not here yet. But mosquitoes have arrived. Boo. Oh, the turtles are out! There were two on the road coming home today. First turtle sighting of the year. I helped them over to the ditch on the other side of the road.

A few more photos. Really sad to see the limbs with new buds lying on the ground.

And a propane camp stove for cooking so we did okay. No internet obviously and the cell towers were really spotty, so limited signal throughout. Glad it’s over, but unfortunately another storm is coming this afternoon. Snow and more freezing rain. 😟 Was really pretty in all its destruction though.

Beautiful skies. Love the one with the moon peeking through. Just back online and catching up here. Had a very bad ice storm this weekend and power was out for over 30hrs. So many trees came down. Constant crashing is falling limbs and trees. So much ice!

I haven’t posted many photos here lately, but I got a good one of Joey the other day!

I was thinking about that your visit today—how fast things have changed in such a short period of time. 🫠

Still lots of snow, enough to keep wearing the snowshoes. Lots of melting, but the packed trails are about 6” deep or so. The pond iced over again as it was down to -10C/14F this morning.

2008! Wow, wouldn’t have thought that long. I found 2018 in my Dropbox folder which I can access with the iPad (haven’t pulled out my computer and HDs so not sure what we’d have in those).

What a lovely colour! I did the same with some nasturtiums and they are also flowering now.
December 11, 2024 at 6:22 PM
They are quite active! And you can see their tracks in the snow so you can tell where they’ve been. I took this photo of it just now on our lunch walk. You can kind of see where the water is open and there is a sort of channel out to the bank (follow the arrows).

Winter has arrived in our neck of the woods and it looked magical yesterday morning. Joey is so happy to have the snow back—he was leaping for joy and rolling around all through the woods on our morning walk. #photography #winter
