You will likely find me knee-deep in crime fiction books.
If you haven't seen the Banksy exhibit yet, I recommend catching it while it is in Edmonton.

Volunteering for the #ForeverCanadian project has been a rewarding experience. It was good to hear individuals from across the political spectrum share what being Canadian means to them personally. 🇨🇦🤎🇨🇦

If you haven't had a chance to sign the #ForeverCanadian petition yet, there will be a signing event in the meeting room of the Jasper Place EPL, this Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30. Please help build a cushion of extra signatures.

I thought so too. I am also a fan of the softer yellow tinged with pink.

Yesterday I noticed quite a few houses with Halloween decorations up.

On this day of Truth and Reconciliation, I recommend reading FIVE LITTLE INDIANS by Canadian author Michelle Good. It is about five residential survivors trying to rebuild their lives.

It feels like Edmonton has become one large construction site. Cold weather is around the corner. It would be great to see a similar option here to providing coats to those in need of one.

As the tech billionaires bend their knees for Tr*mp to avoid paying taxes on their vast piles of money, I prefer to recognize Andrew Carnegie, the first billionaire. He used his money to fund the construction of multiple libraries. This beautiful building is in Stirling, Scotland.

LLOYD MCNEIL'S LAST RIDE by
@williamfleitch.bsky.social is funny & touching. A cop learns that he has terminal brain cancer. His life insurance will pay a higher rate if he dies on the job, so Lloyd begins to seek out dangerous situations. He wants a nest egg for his son. Can his crazy plan work?

Overcrowded hospital with patients on beds lining the hallway. The bell was a workaround to call a nurse.

I burned through THE TRANSCENDENT TIDE by Doug Johnstone today. It is the final book in his wonderful sci-fi Encedalons Trilogy. Even though it is about aliens seeking a safe haven on Earth, it is actually a powerful commentary about humanity. 1/2

Wise words from Elie Wiesel.

The other day when the wonderful Louise Fletcher passed away, a post about her was followed by one about Smith. I had never noticed the resemblance before. Of course, Fletcher was only acting like a cold and calculating person as Nurse Ratched.

I took the attached photo in 2018. It is not a great image but it illustrates how dark and gloomy it was prior to the fire. The restoration is remarkable.

I recently saw this portrait of Paul McCartney at the National Portrait Gallery in London. It is painted by Sam Walsh. The name of the portrait is Mike's Brother as Sam was friends with Mike McCartney.

On Saturday morning while I was in London, I saw about fifty horse drawn carriages going down a city street at a fast trot. Most of the horses seemed comfortable running on the pavement. Does anyone know more about this event?

There are hockey fans, and then there are @EdmontonOilers fans. I am getting a Stanley Cup vibe.

Canadian author Uzma Jalaluddin is known for her successful romance fiction novels such as Ayesha at Last and Much Ado About Nada. Detective Aunty is her first foray into the crime fiction genre. It is best described as a cozy mystery.

Good news! In August, the second Ethan Brand mystery comes out.
A LONESOME PLACE FOR MURDER is set in the BC border town of Blaine, Washington. It is written by Sam Wiebe under his pen name of Nolan Chase. This time around, a tunnel containing a dead man is discovered.
