The camper letters used in the marketing of Summer Camp Nightmare have roots in the novel. There are some interesting variations though.
Letters Home
As head of the propaganda committee, one of Winston’s jobs is to monitor and censor all outgoing mail (June 9). Not only is it an interesting concept, it serves to move the plot forward on Ju…

It looks like Camp Grizzly is going to get a second edition through @trickortreatgames.bsky.social

This is fantastic news as this is one of the most fun games I’ve ever played and it has been really hard to get ahold of (for a reasonable price, at least) for almost a decade.

The second edition of this Sleepaway Camp book has a lot of great new information on 2&3, including an in-depth interview with writer Michael Hitchcock where he talks about the evolution of the stories across multiple drafts. Definitely worth the upgrade.

I genuinely believe that William Butler’s The Butterfly Revolution is a significant work that deserves to be more than a footnote to Lord of the Flies.

Here are some of my thoughts on the subject:

Franklin tells the other campers society keeps people in line through the use of fear. When they overcome fear, they stand above society.

A variation can be seen on the back of this British VHS.

I tried to make a map of Camp High Pines based on Winston’s descriptions. Unfortunately, it looks like it was made by a 3rd grader.

This image has been on the cover of The Butterfly Revolution since sometime in the 80s. It’s the first cover I ever encountered. Despite the credits on the copyright page, this image was not designed by Bruce Pennington.
