I don't know the real name, but to me it is Chicago's Nullabor. No trees or life in sight.

Great article! Chicago is great value for what is offered.

It has never been easier to swap to Linux. You can even play most Windows games thanks to Proton.

How do I invest in Canadian Best Buys on the border?

They are the worst. They prefer to use the pedestrian LFT in Grant Park despite a bike path running parallel. Nearly ran over my dog. If they stick to the bike path I would have no issue with them.

How silly of the attacker. Every 3rd person is an off duty cop in Mt. Greenwood.

Metra does not run to Milwaukee. Amtrak does, but it is far too infrequent. Which is criminal for two cities of their size.

You can! My advice is to start slow. Forward all your gmail to Protonmail and update websites with your new email address when you can. In time, gmail would only have stale data or old data. You can delete all google data periodically. Good luck on reclaiming your digital independence.

For those who want to make the jump, there are many great alternatives to big tech products. Gmail->ProtonMail, Twitter->BlueSky/Mastodon, Reddit->Lemmy, Windows->Linux. It sounds daunting, but the last few years have seen a big spike in user friendliness and usability for these alternate services.

Which is exactly why you need to rework your map to make this work. We all want better transit, but I am afraid you'll be spinning your tires until you address this as once the BevRI line is electrified, it will never go back to diesel. Residents advocated for clean air along this spur. We got it.
March 21, 2025 at 1:04 PM
Diesel trains do not belong on the residential BevRI spur. Metra knows this and is currently electrifying this line right now! Unless reworked this plan will undo our progress. Until this plan addresses this fact, even phase 1A is a political non-starter. Yes build it! But keep Beverly electrified.

Sorry to Canada to say but out of Australia, NZ and Canada… Canada is definitely the most Americanised.

Last few days I've seen hundreds fly NW here in the South Side.

Shame on some commenters. Criticize the horrible perpetrators, not the neighborhood they come from.

Fantastic news. Northside proponents of alternate transit projects who use the cost blowout as reason their projects deserve funding first, fail to mention that their projects would also face the same challenges. The lack of Metra connection is an oversight though.
