Kumo cloud truly is the worst. It is a hacked together 'solution' meant to allow for remote control of Mitsubishi heat pumps/ACs. The hardware is almost as fragile as their cloud backend. I would love an ethernet adapter to replace their wireless modules. #kumo #kumocloud

A great guide for those who are seeking to move away from big tech in search of digital independence. Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good, even replacing a few services makes a difference. You don't have to aim for 100% europe.pub/pictrs/image...

It would be helpful if more people understood renewable energy is actually an extremely disruptive technology and the reason monied interests are trying to make folks hate it is that they are the ones which will be disrupted.

“This right here is a cargo bike. I got it because people say that, ‘you need to have a car to go grocery shopping’, or ‘you need to have a car to go to the hardware store', which, I mean, that couldn't be further from the truth. I load up groceries in this thing and can probably take. . .”

Thanks Mayor Daley. #Chicago
A really great piece on a massive issue facing urban communities: not having control of their own streets.

Many angles, but I'll highlight this part on Madison's BRT, which is spot on.

A bus needs lanes most *precisely during* the busiest traffic times.

Bluesky feels like refuge. A place with people happily sheltering from the bots, AI, spam, racism and commercialism. Entirely pre-enshittification and unexploited! The spirit and mood of this place is that of an internet which sadly no longer exists. Enjoy this while it lasts. Corpos are coming.

I am one of the many fleeing what is left of twitter. So far this place has been nothing but positive energy. It brings me back to the early days of twitter. I love the happy conversations and organic discussions.
