I am so over gatekeeping. Spending any amount of time convincing anyone they aren’t what they say they are is just wild to me.

No, mostly for cost reasons. It would be awesome from a visibility and power perspective, but I wanted a 15inch color panel and i could even find one in e-ink I think it would have at least doubled the price of the entire project. But this is an ips display and looks really great in person!

So now I am in the process of refactoring the event sorting. I think it is honestly the way I should have done it from the start. Now the server is responsible only for retrieving the data, but the client is responsible for determining how it should be displayed. Hoping to tie it up today.

My options of telling the server which timezone to use were geolocate the ip or have a setting that is stored in the user database. But I didn’t really like either of these options because geolocation seemed to be unreliable and having to pick your preferred timezone was a pain for the user and me.

If an event in my timezone was from 5pm-8pm (est), my server using Universal Time Code saw it as 10pm-1am meaning it sorted it into the multi day event list. Originally I wanted to just have my server use the timezone that my user was in. But that turned out to be difficult and very impractical.

I sort events into timed events, multi day events and full day events, because each of these are rendered differently. And I had thought the best way to sort those was on the server to not make the client do it, but when the clients timezone came into play with multi day events.
