Look, uh, I am very sorry to report that he (his staff) also made a website to oppose the development, which to be clear, includes 12,000 sq m of retail including a grocery store, a new park, a daycare, and a woonerf.

It's just made up gibberish like the fake-nostalgic AI image he's using to try to drum up opposition to it.
November 19, 2025 at 6:21 PM
He's just saying the words that he'd have to say in order to oppose the redevelopment from the image on the left to the one in the middle.

Here--enjoy Toronto Councillor Mike Colle working really really hard to prevent 2,700 new homes from being built on a big parking lot.
November 19, 2025 at 5:38 PM
Is it perfect? Surely not! But, look at what is there now!
November 18, 2025 at 9:29 PM
Maybe worth visually contrasting the (anodyne) plan to build some towers and a park with the current use case of a large parking lot and 2.5 strip maps

"We risk losing our cherished businesses, parking, natural light, and the unique, vibrant character that makes Bathurst & Lawrence home."

The unique, vibrant character:

Well, for the second, Mike Colle is doing his very level best to fight to preserve our city's heritage parking lots

"That would be an ugly change to our little corner of paradise"

- People living on streets with mansions, minutes away from major employers. These people's reaction is sadly the so similar everywhere in Canada.

I love estates

I just don't know why a layperson should really respect the planning process in Toronto when the townhouses at left are the outcome while the six-plexes (and single stair too?) I don't believe can be built like this anymore

The red lines are the streets without sidewalks in just Etobicoke alone

But, like, you look on a population density map of the GTA and you can see the case for commuter rail. For Winnipeg at the same scale, there just isn't the same network of suburbs/towns. You can barely even see Gimli on the map. Maybe for summer tourism, but...

It's well within the boundaries of the city.

Some bad bike news stuff in that too (on page 18)
October 23, 2025 at 6:32 PM
That gets it down to around 800 m, not counting walking in the stadium.
October 23, 2025 at 3:04 PM
Unfortunately, it's about 1000 m in Toronto vs 700 m in LA. But one of these walks is going to be a lot more pleasant and it's not the shorter one.

A modest proposal for a congestion charge zone

At least 2 Church looks like there's housing over the parking lot?
October 20, 2025 at 8:51 PM
Eglinton needs bike lanes now, it is ridiculously unsafe for cyclists with how close trucks and cars hug the curb.

We've got a good province here
October 9, 2025 at 12:28 PM
And here's Yonge from Millwood to Merton, marked in green. Not by the riding boundaries but you can see the importance to the nearby apartment neighbourhood
October 3, 2025 at 12:59 PM
And the same view with the riding boundaries...

(Bloor first here)

The thing about Aurora/Newmarket is that they didn't used to be roughly contiguous to the GTA, at least. But I think the pattern holds elsewhere thanks to the firm settlement boundaries in southern Ontario.

Orangeville, Stratford, Chatham, Welland.
