Most people paying attention aren’t falling for it. Like me, they’re just in the “Let Them Fight” camp. I don’t trust her as far as I can throw the Empire State Building, but any chaos she sows in the GOP in the meantime is cool with me.

Or he can pocket veto. If Congress is still adjourned the Monday after Thanksgiving, then the bill is dead until such a time that Congress can get it passed through both houses a second time.

Keep in mind, I’m no lawyer; just a guy with decent google-fu who listens when people in my life who are lawyers talk about things like this.

Simply put, yes, this would be defrauding the court, which can be two felonies in one: fraud (definitely applies), and obstruction of justice (might apply).

Like, I’ve found instances of people perjuring themselves to grand juries, and lawyers presenting false information to them, and both of those are crimes. But they both by default can only be done if you present your case to the grand jury, and that’s what failed to happen here!

This may well be the first time it’s ever happened in US legal history, because it’s one of the several things we adopted from England’s legal system immediately after the Revolutionary War. England only abolished grand juries less than a century ago; now all their cases just go to trial.
