Postgraduate medical recruitment needs accountability, but doctors in the UK are trapped in a system that is devoid of it, say Elgan Manton-Roseblade and ‪@callumwilliams2.bsky.social‬.

This will continue unless there are financial consequences for ducking accountability

The results are in. Our survey on medical student finance has made clear the financial hardships faced by medical students, due to a broken funding system which doesn't cover basic living costs.

Medical apprenticeships are something the BMA has expressed significant concerns about, and we welcome plans to halt these. We will be watching developments very carefully and will continue to fight for improved medical student funding and WP initiatives. www.telegraph.co.uk/money/jobs/l...

Great news - medical apprenticeships were sold as widening participation instead of meaningful WP initiatives and proper funding

We @the-bma.bsky.social raised concerns about these programmes, it's good to see the gov making a sensible decision to scrap them.

The Foundation Doctor allocation process is the entry to the NHS for 10,000 doctors each year but it does not ensure the welfare and retention of incoming doctors!

Launched today: Including prioritising UK medical school graduates in allocation.
