Transfer of provision to a business would likely involve a service agreement (as at NNR), plus for WR it may or may not be a group of businesses (rather than an individual business) via a sponsorship model or a parish council and those negotiations are under way.

NNDC do not operate dumps, Kate. That is Tory run Norfolk county council and the booking system is one we objected to.

But when you have increasing TA demand stemming from a housing crisis not of our creation, and a cap on how much you can (for example) increase CTX to meet that or inflationary pressures then difficult conversations have to be had. Govt won't step up and fund LA's properly - we take the blame.

NNDC (under the Tories) transferred a set to the North Norfolk Railway, Holt town council provide a public loo - no doubt others. NNDC have invested in accessible changing places toilets.

I'll say it again. Which toilets are closing? If NNDC look to transfer them to (for example) a parish or town council, or a business/charitable organisation to continue to maintain or even enhance the provision then what's the issue?

3)Aside from Weybourne - where the compost toilets were removed following mis-use, no decision has been made to close any public toilet. Show a spotlight on the huge TA costs maybe. Expect Bylines to be better tbh..

2) Walsingham was never proposed for closure but transfer. Negotiations here are ongoing which I wouldn't want to compromise - but there's more going on here (which bylines might find interesting)....I'll leave it at that.

1)This was an announcement of a discussion. Not of a decision, yet the narrative was framed by media outlets like it's all a foregone conclusion - which Hickling and the removal of winter closures proves it is not.

It's incredible the grief NNDC have been given when we actually provide more public toilets (to best of my knowledge) than any other district council in the country!

Hickling remaining open, winter closures off the table, negotiations under way to retain Walsingham, W. Runton and Stalham. This oft quoted '40% of toilets to fully or partially close' is simply not true.

This photo was us having a pint and playing pool in The Tyneside in 2019, it was the day I got my masters results, so I'm happier than I look!

My thoughts are with Sarah at this sad time. Pierre's Funeral is on at 11am on Friday 10th January 2025 at Cromer Crematorium.
