The trials in AGON are cleverly adapted into the concept of "渡劫" (Crossing the Tribulation) from xianxia novels. "渡劫" refers to the tribulations sent by the heavens at certain stages of cultivation (training to become a xian, or immortal) in Chinese xianxia literature. (2/2)

Today, 5e and 3.5e are the two rule sets most commonly played in China, with 5e having now surpassed 3.5e.
Pathfinder—often jokingly called “3.75e”—is also very popular and is sometimes seen as China’s third most-played TRPG.

D&D influenced the earliest original commercial TRPG in China. The novel Chronicles of Nine States I (九州志 I), published in 2007, included the Nine States D20 (九州 D20) system, created based on the 3.5e OGL.

Later on, Baldur’s Gate 3 exploded in popularity, bringing D&D into the mainstream. For context, the most-watched CoC video on Bilibili has about 3.5 million views, while the top Baldur’s Gate 3 video has over 17 million.
