Pre-emptively putting this in the TRON: Ares school of "garbage film, amazing soundtrack."

Rather like how I begrudgingly give props to Saltburn for reviving "Murder on the Dancefloor" in the public eye, at least we're getting both avant- AND True Romance-Charli with the tie-in album.

The first hour is still a frankensteined mess, CGI Peter Cushing is still a bad idea, Felicity Jones is still the cast's weak link, it's still most effective as a thematic piece than a narrative...

But the second it hits Mustafar, the thing just locks the fuck in and GOES. #RogueOne #FilmSky

It says something about the base quality Momma are currently operating on that they didn't even play any of their best songs yet this was still a very satisfying show.

By and large, if you're doing a Bond movie and his motivation isn't primarily "this is his literal job," then you've already fatally over-thought this shit.

...yet all anyone talks about is the fucking bigoted 'parody,' all clips are brigaded by the worst 'go woke, go broke' edgelords, and the game basically evaporated on instant release. (Not to mention the horrendous harrassment during development.) It deserved so much better. [2/2]

I am still utterly furious about the bullshit that Goodbye Volcano High went through. That was the kind of game I could have so badly used during the period before I realised and accepted my own queer/enby-ness, it's so interesting and such a rich text to discuss... [1/2]

I think I can hear @shadowtodd.bsky.social reflexively screaming in agony from the other side of the Atlantic.

Thinking Bond needs anything other than the absolute thinnest slices of continuity (i.e. a side character from a previous film briefly pops in again to help out before dipping) is precisely what got everyone into this miserable spiral in the first place.

Yes, it sucks that the Internet has gotten to the point where any half-decent independent media requires its own subscription to read, much less keep afloat. Google should genuinely be held accountable for their crimes.

But Stereogum are the good ones. They deserve your support if you can spare it.

People fucking love dinosaurs.

They should have some goddamn standards when it comes to those dinosaurs, agreed, but they fucking love dinosaurs. I dunno what else to tell you.
