Last week at the lovely job I’ve had for 5+ years before I move to scary big job on Thursday.
So having Ice cream sour beer.

After months of fearing that pest control may win and permanently wipe out the squirrels around me I’ve had a visitor!
So all the money spent on trying to wipe them out has been wasted it appears.

Welcome back lil friend, let me get you all the nuts.

Thanks. Been a scary few weeks waiting for results. Full transparency I also bought dessert.

I had some health news today that I was told to prepare for the worst about but turned out fine, so in your face Dr.
I’m celebrating alone with an over-priced fruity beer that I actually really recommend as it’s delicious, if a bit odd. Tastes proper custardy.

I post squirrel pictures, and only squirrel pictures. Like this one.

It’s a bit late in the day but Happy National Squirrel Appreciation Day everyone, from Kentucky Squirrel and me.

I’m 52 & like most people I’ve had challenges. I’m officially leaving the safe job I love after 6 years for a scary, grown up & high-profile one & I’m terrified. Imposter syndrome level 28.
My boss is 33 & I’m going to miss her so badly, she made me a better man.
Life. Here’s a squirrel.

Hope everyone is having a peaceful few days.
To those that aren’t; keep going, tunnels end more often than not I’ve learned.
And for those same people that this time of year is a challenge, here’s Kentucky desperately trying - and eventually succeeding - at carrying off 3 big nuts. #mammals

Another shot from a few weeks ago with the brown leaves falling from Kentucky’s tree in the background. I appreciate I’m a bit of a one trick pony with my squirrel shots but when they pose like this I can’t resist. Love them looking healthy like in this image. Look at that groomed tail!

Oh my this is beautiful, where are black squirrels found??
Did you know there’s blue ones in India that grow to a metre long…

The leaves have gone from Kentucky’s tree now so I get a good view of his drey. It was a bird box, but it’s his home now.
Love his tail-styling in this shot. #mammals

I wonder if they did but didn't notice? I think it's quite common. Here's a photo from autumn when I got brought some cloth. This one came back 2 or 3 times to give me cloth.

Having a bad week, made a bit better by squirrel visits.
Squirrels are reciprocal animals, & I get brought twigs as thanks for being a free nut dispenser.
Today almost improved when I was brought a KFC bone, but when I went to get my phone for a pic a magpie stole it. Thanks Magpie. #mammals

Got sunday night fear of the week ahead, so here's a bonus squirrel shot taken from inside my flat this past summer, which feels a long time ago... #sqrlpix

It's that time again! Our relationship is transactional - Kentucky only gets breakfast if he gives me a good pose & lets me snap him. He outdid himself here.
Did you know, research suggests that in the right environment, a single squirrel can plant 10,000 trees in it's lifetime. #mammals

Another day, another pic of Kentucky & today's fact is that a test by Yale into squirrel memory showed one squirrel able to locate - with pinpoint accuracy - 900 of 1000 buried nuts over a 2 year period. Best guess is he used landmarks as a guide. 2nd fact: his memory is better than mine. #mammals

It's wet & windy in London, but Kentucky still wants his breakfast.
Squirrel fact; squirrels will engage in deceptive behaviour if they think someone is watching them & will 'fake bury' nuts, throwing leaves in the air for dramatic effect;I love this behaviour!

Another shot of Kentucky who lives in the tree in the background. I love this shot not just for the pose and the colours, but how healthy my furry friend looks. Bottom right is the evidence of his nut habit. #mammals #sqrlpix #squirrel

Day 3 on Bluesky and a 3rd pic of a squirrel from my garden. I love these expressive little guys so much. #sqrlpix #squirrel

Day 2 on Bluesky and a few moments after yesterday's pic.
For context, I started befriending the squirrels in my garden during lock down and it's no exaggeration to say without them, I would have lost it all locked alone in my tiny London flat.
