That is a serious question though. If we cut 15% of the economy by 25%, that's going to be noticeable. Once it actually makes it into people's bank accounts they will start spending, but there would be a lag. Or if it's a true sea change, the government would spend more on other services.

Or does the water get him instead?

can't find it now but saw a video in recent days about AI not *taking* any jobs. If you are replaced by AI that is because your bosses *chose* to replace humans with AI.

The question is how poor of a human performance equivalent will employers accept if it comes at 1% of the human employee cost

Fortunately no math was involved here

Nice! I'm worried about individual independent stations that may just declare bankruptcy and skip town. I'd like to see laws requiring a portion of fuel sales to go into a site remediation fund while the revenues are still high. In my MIL's small town a leaking tank contaminated the area for blocks.

nice! Thanks for the idea. I actually have a couple of those adapters lying around already... somewhere. I've been using these, which address the port-to-surface-area ratio problem cited above as a bonus

I imagine gas prices will become like cigarette prices. Massively taxed, and mostly unknown by the majority of the public, who see the price signs every now and then, are briefly shocked, and then think "well they have no one to blame but themselves if they're still using that"
December 18, 2025 at 4:36 PM
It was a lot easier to tear down and build something new where the horse stable used to be than it will be with former gas stations. And if "come here for snacks, powerball, and vapes!" isn't enough to draw traffic, a lot of those residential-area toxic sites are going to be simply abandoned.

Trump engaged in a pointless branding exercise? Quell surprise!

So Congress authorized $2.9B for paying the troops, and the secretary directed $2.6B should be issued as payments? Is a 10% agency commission standard?

I have some older headphones that have a USB-C charging port but are too old (or maybe cheap?) to support PD. They charge fine when connected to a USB-A or a simpler USB-C source like a car charger, but do absolutely nothing when connected to a USB-C PD port.

and yet still somehow lacking the logic circuitry to revert to basic charging when connected to devices that don't support USB-PD
