Recently came across Collingwood-Norris and her 'visible creative mending'. Creating beauty out of imperfection is so wabi sabi. Love it.

With everything going on, catastrophe preparedness that's fun feels like a growing market opportunity.

Judy was the first brand to catch my eye. Now SafeTaiwan is selling emergency kits for pets, in case you know who tries something.

This World Series really was theatrical. A win-win for me. You know Nike had a version of this locked and loaded for the Blue Jays too. Congrats to both teams for giving us baseball greatness.

Are you humanizing your brand or are you humanwashing?

Withings has a new smart urine analyzer that borrows a page from the Brita filter playbook.

This must've been something to work on, from consumer research to business model design to copywriting.

Here in LA, where KCRW runs like fluoride in tap water, this is tectonic news.

ALSO, Rivian's micromobility spinoff, really nailed solarpunk branding, down to the smallest details.

That quirky mono style font, the crank arm scrolljacking moment, and the dreamy copywriting are all magic. ✨

This Kith collab with George Costanza isn’t coming out of nowhere. The guy is an icon in online menswear culture.

Apple's new Sleep Score is being put to the test. According to Quantified Scientist, it has more in common with Oura than Whoop.

Blue Bottle just dropped an ultra-premium coffee from Alishan, Taiwan, better known for the "champagne of tea."

I’ll be in the area this November, apparently this farm is super private but hoping to find one like it.

If you're into cycling, design, retail, etc. MAAP is opening its first US store in Venice tomorrow. Looks like a worthy addition to the neighborhood. Hopefully it can bring some energy to that part of Abbot Kinney.

If there’s one good thing to come out of Burning Man each year, it’s Tycho's annual Sunrise mix.

This is a clever reframe by Eight Sleep. Staying cool is a much more mainstream benefit than a small bump in sleep score.

Apple is promoting Severance so much that I'm starting to think they are Lumon.

There are local businesses that fully rebrand every few years to keep that "newly opened" effect. It might be the only way to approach cursed locations like this.

These artist-wrapped Waymos are starting to show up around West LA.

They're clearly trying to avoid the dystopian tech vibe by humanizing their vehicles.

It's a nice start. But to succeed, they'll need to go beyond cosmetics.

Finally got around to watching the Hideo Kojima doc on the game design behind Death Stranding.

George Miller (Mad Max) drops some great nuggets about the experiential feeling of creative world building:

Google researchers just revealed SensorLM, an LLM model trained on data captured by Fitbit and Pixel Watches across 127 countries.

This could unlock a new level of personalized health insights from wearables, all presented in natural, human language.

Starbucks' new "secret menu" is a much more natural way to engage regulars than its Odyssey NFT program (RIP).

While formalizing it in-app loses the iykyk aspect, it makes the fun accessible to a much wider audience.

Hopefully there's a secret secret menu.

It's easy to get lost in all of Instagram's features. This chart from Meta provides a clear, simple guide to the specific strengths of each one. Whether IG is central to your brand's strategy or just a piece of it, this is a helpful way to think about it.

Dipped my toes in the world of N8N workflow automation at AI LA. 🤓

A point that stuck with me: The tech will take someone with little knowledge in a subject from 1-10x, but it’ll take someone with domain expertise from 10-100x.

Interesting how the Arc Boats site uses the same design language as SpaceX, The Boring Company, and Tesla.

Leveraging familiar category codes is a smart way to signal they're from that class of innovation.

But to stand out long-term, they'll have to craft their own identity.
