actually i'm doing myself dirty here, it has to be a maximally vaguely ominous *bop*

and i have immediately realised that the venn diagram of my favourite SSPU songs and the maximum Vaguely Ominous Nonsense is a circle 😔

A Passel of Pigeons is still up and it's still lovely 😁

so the reason for my little reply burst is because that age-old question came up in a discord and i was like "buddy, even in the mobile market there's room for art amid the microtransactions, let me tell you a tale of a match-3 i once played..."

and i finally thought "i should check bluesky"!

the heartbreaking thing is that games need writers like you because otherwise they don't even break the surface!! but no, the industry is allowed maybe two decently written games a year and everything else has to be unremarkable dross 😭

Framed _exactly_ like that terrible TNG episode with Riker in a coma

conceptual RPM is high but unfortunately the conceptual clutch hasn't engaged, and the conceptual gearbox will very soon go CRUNCH

I can't think of a time that Britain's government have moved left deliberately. Certainly since the Industrial Revolution our politics have served money, and only ever veered left when that politics caused too much damage to enough people that it became unignorable.

I couldn't get to grips with blazor because of all the assumptions it made on behalf of the dev; passing my eye over some example angular projects, the syntax looks pretty thorny and very much like blazor's polar opposite, yeah 😵‍💫

does Mr Beast have an entire corridor of beautifully conserved farm wagons?

it's at least 2-0 to us and we could go on forever

time to be mildly annoying: if it's returning errors plural, then I'd expect an array of strings - and the empty array if no errors...?

DeepSeek's model takes 30x less electricity to answer the same question. So no matter where people use it, the electricity load will drop for a long while before it starts to increase again. Even in the worst case scenario, we get more time.

You could consider LLMs to be 'synthetic imagination', but only imagination. An AGI is the sci-fi dream, we could maybe use this synthetic imagination as a part of the eventual Thing, but we're still at the point of fumbling in the dark when it comes to the eventual shape and form of an AGI.

I can't be the only one seeing deep seated similarities with religious Rapture fixation? 'everything will get worse and we don't need to make any effort to reduce the badness because at the end of it all the worthy will be rewarded by a magical good'

I'll drop a Deptford Mice recommendation here as well - I haven't read it for a while but my rose-tinted spectacles say it ran magical, dark, grim, and the few social boundaries it had were critiqued heavily within the books. (have to find some old copies now, my tiny home bookshelf demands them)
