Every time I go back to Subnormality (usually to find Everything's Better With Cheese) I end up rereading old favourites.

Count to Ten is about choice and yearning, and these panels still make me cry every time I read them.

does Mr Beast have an entire corridor of beautifully conserved farm wagons?

it's at least 2-0 to us and we could go on forever

My son is watching a youtube video in which a minecraft player is modding the game to introduce mobs ('mobile entities': creatures) that look like retired letters of the alphabet (the thorn and ampersand so far).

What a strange and wonderful modern culture fusion thing.

Outstanding thread.
As someone who has reported on AI for 7 years and covered China tech as well, I think the biggest lesson to be drawn from DeepSeek is the huge cracks it illustrates with the current dominant paradigm of AI development. A long thread. 1/

I've always loved the fact that the word 'sneeze' is the result of a historical accident. The original form, in the Middle Ages, was 'fnese', but someone mistook the 'f' for the long medieval 's' and wrote down 'sn-' instead.

Fneezing sounds much more like a proper, nasal sneeze.

The squeep (square sheep, you see) that inspired Minecraft
according to all known laws of aviation, there is no way this sheep should be able to stand

Two 4tb HDDs started SMART-failing at the same time (not too surprising, they were from the same batch and both about ten years old). 4tb SSD acquired. First drive took fifteen days to copy everything off that I wanted to keep. Second drive mostly redownloadable, but still on track for two-day copy.

Nature is healing. We can make git mistakes on main and not get immediately rinsed by a hundred stackoverflow-dwellers.
Gahhhhh I was supposed to branch this latest commit but pushed it to main instead 🤦‍♀️ no big deal but it does mean main is unplayable right now. At least until I wrap up the rest of this feature in another commit or two. #IndieDev #GameDev

It's only a service outage if it's posted on the Service Outage list on our website. Otherwise it's just sparkling functionality.

Finally googled Maxwell's Demon. I had this idea it was somehow related to Hawking radiation but... it's just semi-permeable membranes, right?

I try to 'wear' my ADHD at work. Not as an armour or a mask, but as a badge. I mention when it affects my communication with others, so that both they and I can understand what happened if we got into a disagreement, or why one of us saw ambiguity where the other didn't.
