The Empress of Salt and Fortune: 4.25/5 stars 🐇🧂🔮🎱🌙💫
In this short yet powerful novella, a cleric visits the site of the last Empress’s place of exile to uncover long-hidden secrets of the monarchy. This novella works so well, I will definitely read book 2!

Deep End by Ali Hazelwood: 5/5 stars ⭐️

This book was SO much fun and the first read in a long time I’ve been fully enthralled with; I’m talking staying up late, thinking about it at work, reading every free moment I can enthralled. I’m excited for more Ali Hazelwood books like this one ;) #booksky

YUP!!! For some reason I thought it came out on 3/14 not 3/4, so I was taking my sweet time with my reread of the series (just finished book 1 yesterday), so imagine my shock when I figured it out YESTERDAY 😭😭😂😂

The Message by Ta-Nehisi Coates: 5/5 stars ⭐️
As Coates travels to three conflict regions through the world - Senegal, South Carolina, and Palestine - he reflects on
"how our stories - our reporting and imaginative narratives and mythmaking - expose and distort our realities."

me 🤝 collecting library cards like infinity stones
My tips:
- apply for a library card where you work!
- If you're in college/university, apply for a library card in your college/university town
- Research libraries that allow you to join without a library card there! Ex: "Queer Collective Library"

Did I cry over a webtoon about dragons who grow tea leaves? Yes, yes I did. 🐉☕️🫖🍃💞🧚‍♀️

“The Tea Dragon Society” by Kay O’Neill is an adorable and impactful story about found family, queer love, and finding oneself. 5/5 stars and will definitely be reading book 2!

Last book I bought: The Serviceberry 🫐🕊️

Last book I borrowed (via Hoopla): Moon of the Turning Leaves 🍂 🌳

Moon of the Turning Leaves by Waubgeshig Rice: 5/5 stars. No notes; perfection, made me sob.

The sequel to "Moon of the Crusted Snow," taking place ten years after the end of the first book, focuses on renewal, homecoming, and Indigenous self-determination. 🍂🦌🫐🌳

Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice: 4.5/5 ⭐️

In the midst of societal collapse, a Native tribe must look inward and rely upon their traditional teachings to guide them forward to survival. This book focuses on Native resilience, community, survival, and family. ❄️🌙🫎

My most anticipated books releasing in 2025! I’m counting down the days to Oathbound, which I’ve preordered on @libro.fm (my favorite audiobook platform, besides my library 😉)

Since making these graphics I preordered Atmosphere, Great Big Beautiful Life, and To Ride a Rising Storm! #booksky

To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers: 5/5 stars ⭐️

Becky Chambers has yet to write a novel I don’t absolutely love! This book addresses mental health, grief, climate change, the importance of space exploration, and human relationships. 🛰️🔬🧬🌱

This book is about how evil is “terrifyingly normal,” in our current political and societal landscape. Emezi reminds us that forgetting our history and becoming complacent is how “the monsters” come back. This short novel is heartbreaking, thought-provoking, and necessary. 2/2

Pet by Akwaeke Emezi: 4.75/5 stars ⭐️
I read this back in November, right after the election, but I never posted my review online. As the new admin begins enacting policy reforms directed to harm, divide, and destabilize the U.S., this book is as prevalent and vital as it was back in November. 1/2

Texicalaan Duology by Arkandy Martine: 5/5 stars ⭐️

“Nothing touched by Empire stays clean.”

This series has very quickly joined the ranks among my favorite duologies. “A Memory Called Empire” brilliantly illustrates culture and native language devoured by colonization, AI, and empire.

Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao: 3/5 stars ⭐️

This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2025, but sadly it fell short for me. I loved the concept, but the main character’s choices drove me up a wall. I also felt like nothing in the world was fully fleshed out and I was left wanting more. 😩

Current read: Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao 🌊🌙💭🕊️ it’s giving inception vibes but set in Japan and more whimsical and romantic! 🤍

My boyfriend bought me a new bookshelf for Christmas because I was running out of shelf space, but now I have too MUCH shelf space… is this an excuse to buy more books? 😂
