thought it was easier to make a quick general update of the last year since I last posted
- I grew my hair back as a disguise
- I still work with dead people but now as a pathology technician (it sucks)
- I play a lot of guitar but don't record any of it because I am too old for anyone to care

of course my last on-call shift weekend at my current job would have probably the most challenging house collection I've ever had. of COURSE it had to. can't wait to work in the hospital where a nice porter will bring deceased people right to me, what luxury.

I mean it's absolutely the mars volta isn't it
Jenny Lewis was asking people what the best band of the last 30 years is, but covering half the 90s threw me, so now I’m thinking:

what is the best band from 2000-now. the best band that released their first album post-‘99.

we've vowed to get off our asses and get this thing released next year so if you are a label and want to hear the record me and tanya from bismuth made in 2023 get in touch. it's really good. or if you like what we do and want to bully your favourite label into putting it out that works too.

The prospect of something as valuable as #Bandcamp becoming just another strip-mined corporate wreck inspires genuine grief, writes Tom Hawking in today's Guardian.

Very Ballardian spread from Life magazine barely a month after Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The pun on anatomical and the erotic yet deathly swimming pool pose of starlet Linda Christian could almost come from one of Ballard's surreal 'advertisements' (via @atomicanalyst.bsky.social )
