Plenty of us don't have a particular role model in mind when we build a life, surely. I think the closest I had to role models were Buttercup from Powerpuff Girls & Long John Silver. It just feels like another excuse society hands to young men. "It's okay to be shitty. You didn't have a role model."

one who isn't a raging misogynist/horrible person? That's the only guy you can pick? And why does it need to be gendered anyway? You can look at any human on the earth & find qualities to emulate. Are role models absolutely essential to becoming a functional adult? I feel like... maybe not?
