Inspired by @tammi.bsky.social and watching too many Star Wars shows, I put together this classic 1:57 X-Wing model. Very simple kit, but it painted up really nicely.
X-wing, sitting at rest in a dilapidated hangar X-wing flying through a purple nebula X wing spring in an orange sky. A message is painted in aurebesh on the undercarriage. It translates as ‘Resist!’

Palette cleansing mini-project of some D&D heroes. Iva’saar, elven wizard. Cassia, human rogue. Keiji, Tabaxi ranger. Elouise, human fighter. Hamish the Dwarven Bard (painting tartan was certainly fun). #nerdlings

Working through the Disney+ Star Wars content, and tried Skeleton Crew. What a fantastic space adventure! Pirates, hijinks, peril and hope. It’s clearly aimed at a younger audience than Andor, but it keeps that Star Wars spirit of adventure alive.

Also Nick Frost was amazing as SM-33!
Sm-33 the pirate droid. A humanoid robot, with a head stylised like a pirate skull. Only the right eye is functional. Wires emerge from the back of his head to his body. He is a steel grey colour and very weathered. A text line states “C-can’t say I remember no At Atin”

Finally, I did the unthinkable and improved Captain Sphyran’s paint job. Adding extra highlights and bringing him more in line with his command squad. Very weird to think he was the catalyst for the whole project - 6 years ago.
A deadly Red Corsairs captain. Wearing blood red and ebony armour, and a long dark leather coat. He has a wild unkempt beard, and a curved cutlass. His faithful sabre tooth is by his side.

The Apothecary has an original backpack from a Firstborn (which I’ve had since c.1999) and a scratch built narthecium.

The tech priest has been shown earlier. I wanted to show that some specialist roles are not filled by Astartes due to attrition post-Badab.

A classic Command Squad for the Red Corsairs: Standard Bearer, Apothecary, a Champion and a Tech-priest.

The Champion is a small homage to Christian Bryne’s lighting claw armed Red Corsair, which I remember loving many many years ago in White Dwarf. That includes the sculpted fur shoulder guard!
Standard Bearer! Company champion - now undoubtedly on his way to damnation. Give us a hug!

Peachy, I’m going to need you not to paint these miniatures. I painted them earlier this year, and the direct comparison with your expertise is unflattering!

It’s a great set though - absolutely choc full of character!

Pleased with this suitably creepy conversion! Deliberately gave him 8 limbs to evoke a squid, tying him to my pirate Red Corsairs.
The legs are from a Spindle Drone - and yes, removing and filing the original legs was an absolute pain.

Some nice 3D printed tarantula sentry guns, which have been stolen acquired by the Red Corsairs.

I kept the paint scheme in a generic Imperial Guard style, with a splash of red and the black hand of the Corsairs hastily daubed on the side.
