There's no good way to do it.

If a party is included, it could reflect poorly on a candidate who won a primary they didn't try to win or got wrote in on and decided to go for it.

If a party is not included then a voter is going to ask, "what party are they _really_?"

This was confusing to me because I knew one of the candidates is very progressive liberal and it confused me when I saw an R by her name.

I read that It is also typical for judges to run in both primaries because the judiciary typically prizes non-partisanship, in Allegheny County at least.

Those that had D/R by their name won 1 of 8 spots in both primaries. Those with just D or R won just that primary.

Honestly I think the technicality of the ballot access process hurt the judge candidates with an R by their name, ostensibly unfairly.

I believe it was PublicSource or City Paper where I read that all of the common pleas judges are registered Democrats.
