Scotsman in exile. Misanthropic, introverted, mildly opinionated pop culture sponge. Authority/go-to guy on Marvel’s Jack Of Hearts & CapWolf, so I’m told. Militantly anti-slabbing.

Stokoe, for my money, never misses.

Or, at least, he has yet to do so.

One of maybe 3 current creators that are an insta-buy for me.

You won’t regret it.

It’s legitimately great.

If you dig the Brubaker/Phillips stuff (and who doesn’t?) then you’ll love this.

And you can never go wrong with JLGL.

I really can’t praise it enough. One of my very very very favourite comics, ever.

My work here has already been done by @tristancarlyon.bsky.social and @comicfoil.bsky.social (thanks, fellas), but just for the record, yes, this is worth getting. Essential, says This Guy. Vertigo before Vertigo. Criminal before Criminal. A true gem of a series. TheGoodStuff.

Thanks brother.
I appreciate it.

Again, he and I had only really had one interaction in the last 2 decades (at the funeral for his father, my grandfather), but he was family and a significant part of my life, at one point.

I really just wanted to publicly mark his passing somehow.

Yup, I looked it up after my last post, just to make sure I wasn’t misremembering, and it turns out they didn’t even get A THIRD of the way though.

So, while they would definitely be neat things to own, they are pretty useless in terms of getting the full saga.

I don’t think they ever finished it, in the First Comics versions. I don’t think they even got halfway through.

I’ve thought about going that route too, same with the Epic Akiras, but whenever I start to get serious about pursuing either one, I look at the prices and swiftly change my mind. 😆

Oh man, I didn’t realise you didn’t already own it/hadn’t read all of it.

In that case, I really can’t recommend this enough.

Especially with your love of Mifune/Kurosawa/Samurai stuff.

I can guarantee you’ll love this.

That’s what it looks like.

11, maybe 12 volumes.

Around £40 a piece, here in the UK.

So somewhere around the £400-500 mark, all-in.

Normally I wouldn’t dream of paying that kind of price for something I already own…but LW&C is one of my Top 5 comics ever, so I’m in for these.

I champion Sir Chuckles Branaghs Francis Ford Coppolas Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein every time Pooley McPooleface puts it on the Not List, so I’m not going to stop now.

A sumptuous gothic masterpiece that’s surprisingly faithful to the novel and has *just* the right amount of camp.
