Cities, generally, can’t override the dominant information environment, only respond. As such, the response has to be a genuine crackdown on disorder far above and beyond what is sufficient in suburbs, as well as being genuinely safer, often by an order of magnitude or more.

Yes, people who have the capacity and capability should always analyze through objective statistical reality, but the fact of the matter is, most people cannot, and the information environment is simply not geared towards actual education on crime and objective analysis of risk and safety.

I have no beef with DC, I love it and I’m so happy that they have all those resources and institutions. Every city deserves those resources though, and Maryland can and should do the same for Baltimore as what DC has been blessed with, as well as Baltimore electeds and boosters step up big time.

The overproduction of elites has delivered us into a world where algorithms and media money drive us to endlessly listen to the anxieties of the rejected elites rattle around a braying echo chamber, the infantile discourses of a postscarce, postknowledge existence. I hate comedians, I hope they die.

Why do we tolerate stand-up, improv, sketch comedy, any of it? Who is this for, what value does this have anymore? Must the worst excesses of our overeducated overwealthy society be so converted into the basest signifiers, a crude, inarticulate symbol of a “mirror upon ourselves as a society”?
