The child tax credit was really good! Policy seems easier than politics sometimes. Because the child tax credit accomplished a lot but was not popular.
I wonder if people getting hit with constant messages about how poor they are while they are actually being made richer sunk the child tax credit.

Good family welfare policy looks more like this than just increasing the poverty threshold until it looks good.
Increasing the poverty threshold is one policy tool. We should use all the policy tools availabile to us.
