The hardest part is make sure the packages are written well and maintained. With the next version of Cadet I have increased the speed by 50% with some compiler tricks (skipping packages without callbacks) however packages can still tank it. It's something I am hoping to fix with better dev tools

Just today one of our QV and Developers could not repo a bug that was blocking our end users due to `p4user` being set correctly in their global variables.

For example if you don't define the user it will do the following and use the first one.

1. Global Cli a`p4 -u {username}`
2. Environment Variable `P4USER`
3. Recursively look for `p4config` with a `P4User` value
4. The registry `HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Perforce\Environment\P4User`
