In the work of programming, the syntax is the easy part. Knowing how to solve the problem before you get to the issue of syntax is the central task.

Using AI like that might feel good. But they are doing themselves zero favors when it comes to developing programming skills.

Thank you. You’ll get your check in 4-6 weeks.

This is a joke y’all. We’re so broke. 🥲 lol

I feel like this is also a reflection of the wider culture and how it views teachers. I can't speak for all countries but teachers here in the United States get very little respect. And I know that's different in other countries.

Here, people look down on teaching and assume it's easy.

Just feels weird that people take such a strong position on something they don't know how to do.

I wouldn't walk into a doctor's office and tell them I know more than them because I've got ChatGPT in my pocket.

The people that are claiming AI can replace teachers or teach effectively just don't get what good teaching is. And that's not a dig. There's nothing wrong with not knowing how to do something you don't have training in.

I've edited, added, removed and consolidated instructions in this thing more times than I can count. Even as far as I've gotten it, I don't feel like it can replace a teacher.

And it blows my mind how people regularly talk about how the AI they are using can teach.

You just cleared the biggest hurdle. I think the greatest challenge in learning to code is believing we can do it. Finishing is a matter of time now.

I think it’s pretty sweet. But I’m terribly biased. 😬

Hmm… yeah, our content stinks for that angle. 😅 I actually have never looked around for that kind of thing but if I see something interesting, I’ll pass it along!

What’s the goal in learning? I’m biased but The Odin Project is nice. 😅 But that’s geared very specifically for folks seeking a job. So might be a little involved for folks that aren’t set on that.

Happy to have moved over! Looking forward to being foolish here too. haha

I wouldn’t measure yourself against those submissions. Some people with lots more experience just come to submit those. The more involved ones are not from people that only have the experience from prior content.

If you completed the exercise, you’re doing great.
