Taking a minute while on leave to 🛑: Stop, Think, Observe & Plan.
Wow! We were WOWED by the submissions we received! 🙏
We spent the day curating an incredible lineup of climate storytellers—filmmakers, ethnographers, poets, playwrights, journalists, photographers, fiber artists. So inspiring!
It’s gonna be an amazing gathering. 👀this space 👀

Finishing up at what has honestly been a marvelous #NationalHumanitiesConference knowing I need to get a hold of the gorgeous, affirming & resolute plenary address by #NEH Secretary Lowe. Planning to print, read and re-read in the coming months.

COP 29 is a fossil fuel scam

For 30 years the UN COP Climate Conferences have failed to deliver meaningful change. They have served as a ‘talking shop’ with the big polluters given seats at the top table to cast doubt over the sciences and delay meaningful action.

Learning about Bdote Memory Map, documenting significant Dakota experiences, a collab btw artist & tribal member Mona Smith & Minnesota Humanities Center.
A million years ago while a grad student in Minn, I visited Fort Snelling ☹️
Inspired by how they’re bringing back native worlds to this place.

First panel I’m attending at #NationalHumanitiesConference features a fantastic trio all from Brown’s Humanities C, making critical space to conceptualize oceanic ways of knowing and being. Esp appreciated Rebecca Schneider’s rush of words, after Suzan Lori-Parks: “HOLD IT.”

I just got to Rhode Island for the National Humanities Conference. I’m a first time attendee sharing impressions of this gathering of (all?) the states’ humanities councils.
First impression? Nice water bottles!

For weeks before the election and now after, Richard Russo’s novels, as read by various voice actors, have been my nightly companion. I feel I’m learning a lot about white guys of a certain age and life in a northern town.

Tell me what you’re listening to or reading in the wee hours?

This feels like a lovely time to join Bluesky. I genuinely miss pre-Musk Twitter as an informational and conversational space and in my experience this has the potential to recover that and more. Let's nudge those fence sitters over here #bskywelcomeweek
