And done. First tart I've made, need to possibly pre cook the base first next time and do something to stop it sticking to the base. But the filling is absolutely delicious.

You know how recipes say "takes 15 minutes to prepare. First, caramelise some onions."? That's a lie.

Well, that was excellent. Fantastic staging and the main cast were superb, especially Leamas, Liz and Smiley. Recommend seeing it if you can.

Interval. It's excellent so far. The minimal staging really helps bring out the noire side of the story. And Le Carré's humanity shines through. It's not going to have a happy ending though, is it?

There's a piece about Le Carré in the program and this is very much something I've been struggling with recently. Except I'm not quite sure who I am.

Central London is absolutely rammed this evening, can't remember when it was that crowded. Couldn't even have a drink at the Cork and Bottle as it was packed, as was the Beaujolais. More good wine bars please.
