So in a coastal area/ over a lake etc, there will be lots of water vapour- the temp of the air will determine how much water it can hold before it ‘drips’.
Early morning over lake, air cold, water vapour condenses at dew point- morning mist
Late morning or afternoon, temp is higher, mist clears.

Think of the astmosphere as a sponge. Dew point it when the sponge is so saturated it begins to drip. The temperature affects the extent to which the ‘sponge expands, has more/ bigger spaces, and its capacity to hold the water before it drips. My explanation to 11 year olds. Enough for their age. 🫣
