I sort of got quite involved in emergency management/response and recovery since moving rural and I mean, i really get a lot out of it as far as “feeling like you’re doing worthwhile things with your time on the planet” goes, but the last two summers here have been Something All Right.

I think about this way too much working with the public, so many people so furious that anyone else should have anything they didn’t, and can’t appreciate what they do have, and can’t even consider changing their view because they’re calcified inside their own heads

I think this is correct but also: you need to be willing to be wrong about things!! I feel like the moment you stop being willing to review and assess the things you think are true, big or small things, you’ve written off the rest of the human race and you’re on the downward spiral*

I replaced my old rice cooker a couple of weeks ago with a digital one (from aldi) and I feel like I’ve levelled up to a whole new world of well cooked rice 🤯 I don’t even like cooking, but this thing is a beast
