RTi imaging. Yesterday found a tsuba (Japanese sword guard) that has a faint script on top of a signature, it was hard to make out the word, so we deployed the RTi dome to help us to see more clearly.

This is probably the most sophisticated piece of equipment I ever had the pleasure to use. This book cradle allows us to digitise manuscripts without bending the spine & gets hi-res images for each page by hooking up with a Hasselblad camera. Live view & tethered images works the magic. (& patience)

The kind of #surprise I like when I’m told there are items in the #studio for me to #photograph. I’d be told what object it is, but it still surprise me coz they never look what you expected. In this case, what do you think this is? Clue: it’s a handheld device & can open up! #FitzwilliamMuseum

Fantastic to see the return of human remains to their original resting place. It’s an acknowledgement of just how far anthropology has come since the nineteenth and early twentieth century.
Three skulls from Japan that were given to Edinburgh Univ in 1913 have been returned to the indigenous community where they originated.

The remains of the Ainu people - donated by Scottish anthropologist Dr Neil Gordon Munro - were held in the univ's anatomy museum. www.bbc.com/news/article...

WHAT PHOTOGRAPHS DO - The Making And Remaking of Museum Cultures. By Elizabeth Edwards & Ella Ravilious.
Highly recommended to all colleagues in the industry💕

Essentially, photographs is the blood running through the veins of a museum yet they don’t always get the acknowledgment that they deserved.

A heartfelt thank you to the photography teams at the #AshmoleanMuseum, #BodleianLibraries, and The #PittRiversMuseum for hosting the #AHFAP workshop and taking the time to show us around.

It was a real pleasure to meet colleagues from across the sector and to gain a glimpse into your work. 💕

The Hone body-chain is very small. Only the central amethyst and four garnets survive. Hellenistic and Roman style, very special. #BritishMuseum

A lovely day out yesterday to the British Museum & I have to share with you this tawny cat I found from the Egyptian wing that’s thousands of years old.

Cats were family pets, but he is shown here also represent the Sun-god hunting the enemies of light and order.
