Claudia Cardinale may have passed away today, but for some of us she will always be Angelica Sedara in 1963

However my admiration for Hillary has been unwavering. Here she gives an interview on the NYKER Political Scene Podcast. Listening to her speak on this podcast, at age 77 no less - a powerhouse of experience and level-headedness she remains.

some will remember my ill fated post from 2016 when I explained, calmly and with great self assurance, how the demographics of the USA would result in Mr. Trump losing to Secretary (H) Clinton despite his early election lead. I was, we might say, wrong.

From that cool skiing film with Hackman to Jeremiah Johnson and the other fantastic Sydney Pollack productions, to the solo sailing epic All is Lost, Mr Redford made films magnetic, epic and personal all at once. Even the old men hiking film with Nick Nolte

I am not religious but in 2001 I was backpacking in Italy & ended up in the Vatican city on the day (Wednesdays?) when the Pope comes out to speak. In the heat the many other visitors treated the Vatican water fountains like they were a religious experience. The love was infectious, and I joined in

The BBC isone of the best at news AND entertainment. Gold star to you, the ever-fine British Broadcast Corporation (except for getting rid of the HardTalk podcast, which is, clearly, a crime against humanity)

How do you re-home a rhino by helicopter? Upside down
Moving endangered rhinos to new areas is a vital part of their conservation. War-torn helicopters from the Vietnam war are airlifting the creatures to safety.

I'm only sorry I will not be there in person to see the mighty Team Homan take on team Mouat in the Battle of the Sexes Curling event in a few minutes. May my sports crush Emma Miskew (team Homan 3rd) sweep the male team into oblivion!

When the public political rhetoric is airing a lot of, well, knucklehead talk, it's nice to see my feed always has smart people making reasonable comments. This is NY Governor Hochul, who I was not familiar with. She sure sounds great:

I am making this post because Bluesky seems to fail at searching for a person by their handle or username. So if someone searches for me, maybe they find this post.
Also my Github handle is Burlindu, so Burlindu Burlindu. Searches, not search engines!

We may never know the true circumstances of Gene Hackman's death this week, but in 1974 he portrayed an awkward, excessively private and beautiful man. Perhaps there was a reason he played this character so well. Farewell, Harry Caul, quiet giant of cinema

Old tymy skating in TO. When the people in the hood decided to add an outdoor curling sheet it seemed a little.... ambitious. But there it is, with rings, lines and hacks to boot, and they just leave the bloody rocks out there in the park.
You rule, T.O. There is also a broom station

Once every eight years I enjoy a rousing game of 'What country will the USA annex next?' This year, as a Canadian, the parlour sport is extra spicy. So far he/it's O for 4 (Greenland, Panama, Canada and Gaza) but nobody ever achieved greatness by throwing in the towel after a few minor setbacks
